Shift Pattern: 3s and 2s, with every other weekend off (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).

What we do. 

This particular role is at our site based in Old Leake just outside Boston, Lincolnshire and specialises in making chilled Italian ready meals and modern deli products for a dedicated customer. The site employs around 700 people.

 

About the role. 

As a Kettle Cook, you’ll be responsible for preparing and cooking sauces in line with recipes, ensuring they meet the required quality, food safety and microbiological standards.


As part of the quality checking process, you’ll also be required to taste and assess sauces to ensure they meet the required taste, flavour and quality standards before they are positively released. You’ll need
to be comfortable tasting products regularly and using your judgement to identify any issues that may affect the final product.


Working as part of the production team, you’ll handle ingredients, operate cooking equipment and complete the necessary checks and records to make sure every cook is completed safely and to the correct
specification.

You’ll work closely with colleagues across the production area, including Kettle Runners and High Care Take-Off Operatives, to ensure ingredients and equipment are available when required.

Kettle Cook - Nights duties may include:

  • Cooking sauces to the required recipe, quality and food safety standards.

  • Tasting and assessing sauces as part of the quality checking and positive release process, ensuring products meet the required taste, flavour and quality standards.

  • Lifting, sieving and weighing ingredients accurately as required by the recipe.

  • Carrying out the necessary checks to ensure sauces are safe and meet the correct standard for consumption.

  • Using cooking and other equipment safely and effectively following appropriate training.

  • Communicating with the Kettle Runner to ensure all required ingredients are available.

  • Working closely with High Care Take-Off Operatives to ensure clippers and capkolds are available when required.

  • Completing all relevant production and quality records accurately.

  • Carrying out chemical cleaning using the correct chemicals and following your training.

  • Entering all relevant information into Red Zone as required.

  • Following all Health & Safety, Food Safety, GMP and quality requirements at all times.

  • Supporting SHE responsibilities and objectives in line with HS005.

  • Carrying out any other reasonable duties required to support the smooth running of the production area.

About you. 

We’re looking for someone who is reliable, flexible and takes pride in doing things correctly.


You’ll need:

  • To meet the minimum entry-level English requirements.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to follow recipes and complete records accurately.

  • A good sense of taste and the ability to confidently taste and assess products as part of the quality and positive release process.

  • A willingness and ability to undertake a Food Safety qualification.

  • A flexible approach to work and working hours.

  • The ability to follow Health & Safety, Food Safety, GMP and quality requirements.

  • The right to work in the UK.

  • To be fit and able to carry out the duties of the role in line with Occupational Health requirements.

  • A positive attitude towards teamwork and learning new skills.

Previous experience in food manufacturing or cooking would be beneficial, but full training will be provided on the equipment and processes required for the role.
